New Site Coordinators

The Counseling Psychology department welcomes two new site coordinators, Beth Collins and Frances Ennels. Beth will be making visits to school counselors who are supervising our school counseling practicum students and interns, and Frances will be visiting intern and practicum site supervisors in the field.   Beth is a Pennsylvania Dually Certified (elementary and secondary) school counselor and the School Counseling Placement Coordinator. During her time at Eastern University,  Beth worked as a grief facilitator for Peter’s Place.  She led  grief groups for children ages 6-10 and adolescents ages 14 – 17. In addition to her work within Peter’s Place, she also assisted Peter’s Place with their “Outreach Program.” ...

New Faculty Member Joins the School Psychology Program

The Counseling Psychology Department at Eastern University welcomes Jessica Dirsmith as assistant professor in the School Psychology program.  Jessica, who is a nationally certified school psychologist, completed her undergraduate degree at The Pennsylvania State University and her graduate and doctoral work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She has done additional coursework, as well as a specialty doctoral internship, in the area of school neuropsychology.  Jessica has served as a k-12 school psychologist prior to coming to Eastern University.  Additionally, she has worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Disorders Unit conducting clinical trials on ADHD care...

Back to School…

It’s that time of year…back to school!  I am going back to school for a MA in School Counseling after a 5 year hiatus from graduating from Gettysburg College.  I’m not going to lie…I’m nervous!  I’m going to have to get back into the swing of things FAST….presentations, papers…yikes! Did everyone attend orientation on August 22nd?  I was there and had a great time.  I thought it was a great way to welcome us on our journey into graduate school and calm our nerves.  My favorite part was meeting with my adviser for dinner and learning more about the program.  It also helped meeting with a smaller group of other students starting in the same program.
