A Fast Experience

For the first time in my life I went without food and completed a 3 day fast. It actually went by pretty fast too. My hunger wasn’t nearly as bad as I initially anticipated it to be, nonetheless, I feasted at midnight at the end of the 3rd day. Overall, I felt it was a great experience. During the first day, I literally felt like I was in a constant state of enlightenment. One might ask what prompts someone to go without food. My reasoning goes like this: Your body/organs are constantly working and never get a break, and by fasting, it allows your body to relax and release certain toxins that accumulate. My pastor back home discussed and expanded this concept further and convinced me enough to try it. As the Bible teaches us, “The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit”, and I feel this experience really helps to place God 1st in your life. Also, by resisting our innate need and sometimes extreme love for food, I believe God rewards us in great ways (Daniel 1). I would definitely recommend trying a fast at least once in your life. If you choose to, I would advise researching for yourself what Scripture has to say regarding it, as well as identifying whether or not you are likely to run into any health concerns.
