No Place Like Home

Sorry for the lack of posts this summer. It has been extremely busy out in Colorado. But now as of May 3rd I am back home and actually back on Eastern University’s campus. I forgot for a little while just how much I missed this place. I cannot tell you how awesome it was to travel from building to building surprising my friends with my return to campus. I wish you were there because their faces and suffocating hugs were PRICELESS! Now that I am back and transitioning back to college life I am just glad that Eastern has put such amazing individuals in my life to make it all so much easier. I miss Colorado a lot but ultimately Eastern is where God has me and it has been sorely missed in my life over the last few months. I start working this summer full-time...

Crunch Time

It has been a crazy busy last few weeks here at the Focus Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs. Next week is my finals week and as of tonight I will be done with all of my work for the semester. Talk about an overwhelming fact that I need to embrace: my semester away from Eastern is almost over. I miss Eastern desperately and cannot wait to be back on campus but to leave Colorado Springs presents me with a heartbreaking experience. I love it out here at the Institute and I adore the friendships that I have built with students, staff and professors. So my focus during the next few weeks will be on my relationships and work that is here in front of me in Colorado. I am longing for the sweet breeze that travels between the trees on Eastern’s campus,...

Sand Dunes, Sock Monekys and Car Wrecks

It is Spring Break here in Colorado Springs. That means going to see plays, Driving to the Great American Sand Dunes, Hitting up some natural Hot Springs, Heading into the Mountains, Movie Nights, Dinner Dates, Having some alone time and downtime and of course almost getting in horrible car accidents. This has been an amazing spring break. I got to see “The Screwtape Letters” The same play from New York City traveled out here to Colorado Springs and I got some cheap student priced tickets to see an amazing show. That was Saturday and it was followed by complete epicness. Sunday was a day of relaxation. Monday, though, was an awesome road trip to a place called the Great Sand Dunes. It is one of the most amazing sights I have ever witnessed. Think a...

What I miss about EU

I miss way too much about Eastern. For this short post I will focus on one establishment I miss desperately. That establishment is Wawa. That’s right I miss, pulling an all-nighter and driving over to Wawa in Wayne to get a meatball sub and vitamin water at 3 in the morning… Obviously I miss a lot more about Eastern but I have been craving Wawa like crazy over the last few weeks. What is worse no one here in Colorado has any idea what Wawa is!!! If for some reason you don’t and are planning on coming to Eastern you will soon find out how awesome it is to have a Wawa right next to your college. Another reason I love Eastern. Well, that is enough free advertisement for today. I will now pray that I can make it until May to have a Wawa hoagie. Peace...

Reading, Reading…and Guess What?!

More Reading. My time at Focus Leadership Institute has been composed of memories I will never forget and packing my brain with hundreds of pages that are squishing those memories. Actually all of our readings are very compelling but we push the envelope at nearly 100 pages a night of reading. I do have to say I am extremely grateful for Eastern because the few upper-level classes I took before heading out west truly challenged me to be a better student than I knew I could be. Those classes were by no means easy but I am so glad that I had professors like I did who invested time into my life to make sure I was growing as a student and a person. You will find that pretty often at Eastern, my home. Aside from all of the reading I think it is time for an update on...
